Baku:Romania's crude oil imports from Azerbaijan increased sharply in the first eight months of this year.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Romania imported 924,913 tons of crude oil from Azerbaijan from January to August 2026, marking an 18.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The value of these Azerbaijani crude oil shipments to Romania also grew significantly, rising by 35.5 percent year-on-year to reach USD 581.7 million.

Romania accounted for 6.3 percent of Azerbaijan's total crude oil exports, making it the third-largest buyer of Azerbaijani oil after Italy and Czechia.
