Baku: The court proceedings in the criminal case against Armenian citizen Ruben Vardanyan, who faces charges related to crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, terrorism, and financing of terrorism under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, have been postponed from December 26 to December 30, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the delay was requested by Emil Babishov, the defense attorney for Vardanyan, due to his inability to participate in the proceedings because of health issues. The court reviewed and approved the request, rescheduling the hearing for the later date.

Ruben Vardanyan is charged with numerous offenses under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. These include Articles related to planning and waging a war of aggression, deportation, persecution, forcible disappearance, torture, mercenary activity, violation of warfare laws and customs, violations of international humanitarian law, intentional and attempted murder, illegal entrepreneurship, terrorism, financing of terrorism, creation of a criminal group, illegal handling of firearms, acts threatening aviation safety, forcible seizure of power, creation of unauthorized armed formations, and illegal border crossing.
