Astara: About 20 representatives of the Russian embassy in Iran, along with their families, have been safely evacuated to Azerbaijan. This was reported as part of the ongoing evacuation efforts at the ‘Astara’ state border checkpoint, where foreign nationals arriving from Iran continue to transit.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, today’s evacuees include individuals from several countries, including the USA, Russia, Ukraine, and Italy. The evacuation process ensured that each person’s documents were meticulously checked before they were transported to Baku using assigned transportation.
Among those evacuated was Simin Emili, an American citizen of Iranian descent, who expressed her happiness upon arriving in Azerbaijan. She shared her personal connection to the country, stating, “I am very glad to come to Azerbaijan. It is an honor for me to say that my grandparents were Azerbaijani. They were born in Baku. That’s why being in Azerbaijan truly made me very happy.”
It is noteworthy that some foreign governments have requested assistance from Azerbaijan to facilitate the return of their citizens currently in Iran. These requests involve allowing the transit of their nationals through Azerbaijani territory to reach their home countries.
