Russian Ulyanovsk region kicks off direct container train to Turkmenista006E


ASHGABAT: A new container train will be launched directly from the Ulyanovsk region of Russia to Turkmenistan, Governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexei Russkikh, told Russian media, Trend reports.

The governor stated this on the sidelines of the ‘Innoprom’ International Industrial Exhibition, stressing that agreements between the parties on the formation of a direct block train have already been reached.

In particular, the governor noted that a new route of the ‘Ulyanovsk – Ashgabat – Inche-Burun/Serakhs’ block train was discussed jointly with Turkmenistan Railways.

According to him, this eastern railway corridor will enable Russian goods to reach Turkmenistan and neighboring regions – Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan – more quickly.

Furthermore, the governor stressed that the agreements on the launch of the train include the design of the route, the development of a roadmap, and the approval of deadlines for synchronization of work, as well as the combination of the route using the railway and sea terminals o
f the Turkmenbashi seaport of Turkmenistan.

Meanwhile, following the recent visit of a large delegation from the Ulyanovsk region of Russia to Ashgabat, issues of opening a dealership for Ulyanovsk goods in Turkmenistan were discussed. As part of this visit, entrepreneurs from Ulyanovsk signed major contracts with Turkmenistan.
