BAKU: A qualifying examination was held on October 12, 2024, at the Baku Higher Oil School and in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to select students for international informatics Olympiad preparation groups. The event targeted students who progressed to the final stage of the Republican Subject Olympiads in Informatics during the 2023-2024 academic year.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the highest-performing students from this exam will have the opportunity to join preparation teams for significant events such as the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI), the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), and the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). The four-hour exam required students to solve three tasks, with results being processed immediately through an automated system.
Since 2017, “Azercell Telecom” LLC has partnered with the Ministry of Science and Education and the Institute of Education to support schoolchildren in their pursuit of excellence in informatics. This co
llaboration has enabled Azerbaijani students from Baku and various regions to participate in international competitions, where they have collectively earned 80 medals in programming contests across various age groups.
