Baku: A search has been conducted at the home of Ali Karimli, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP), APA reports. This was carried out within the framework of the investigation conducted by the State Security Service (SSS).
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the earlier search of Ali Karimli’s home is related to the criminal case involving Ramiz Mehdiyev that is being investigated by the SSS. Ramiz Mehdiyev is currently charged under Articles 278.1, 274, and 193-1.3.2 of the Criminal Code, which relate to actions aimed at seizing state power, treason, and the legalization of property obtained by criminal means.
On October 14, the Sabail District Court of Baku issued a decision regarding Ramiz Anvar oglu Mehdiyev in connection with the criminal case. The court granted the motion concerning Ramiz Mehdiyev, who has been charged with particularly serious crimes, and imposed a preventive measure of four months of house arrest.
It is particularly important to mention that after the end of Russia’s war with Ukraine, it is anticipated that Russia will attempt to restore its sphere of influence over the Caucasus. For this purpose, it is not excluded that forces affiliated with Ramiz Mehdiyev may be used, and that the APFP, known for consistently opposing Azerbaijan’s state interests, may play a leading role in this process. Neutralizing the APFP in a timely manner is deemed crucial for state security.
