Almaty: The Second Forum of Rectors of higher education institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan took place today in Almaty, as reported by the Ministry of Science and Education to APA. The event was initiated with a meeting between Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, along with university leaders and representatives from relevant institutions. Discussions focused on enhancing interstate cooperation in higher education, covering topics such as academic mobility, joint educational programs, and the expansion of partnership relations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Sayasat Nurbek highlighted the strategic significance of strengthening academic ties between the two nations, noting that recent initiatives have invigorated mutual academic activities and fostered greater interest in educational opportunities. He stated that 62 universities in Kazakhstan are currently collaborating with 81 universities in Azerbaijan, and the forum aims to facilitate the signing of 63 new memorandums between 18 Azerbaijani and 29 Kazakh universities.

Minister Nurbek further mentioned the rise in academic mobility and student exchanges, revealing that by the end of 2025, 333 Azerbaijani students are expected to be studying at 58 universities in Kazakhstan, while 164 Kazakh students are enrolled in Azerbaijani institutions.

Minister Emin Amrullayev underscored the forum's role as a crucial platform for advancing academic cooperation. He noted that the expansion of university relations, joint programs, and increased academic mobility reflect the tangible outcomes of this collaboration. The minister expressed optimism that the new agreements to be signed will bolster partnerships and create additional opportunities for students and faculty.

The forum concluded with a signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding, aimed at fostering academic exchange, scientific cooperation, and the development of joint educational programs.
