Serbia Aims to Sign New Gas Agreement with Azerbaijan

Baku: Serbia is looking to swiftly finalize a new gas agreement with Azerbaijan, as announced by Ana Brnabic, the Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Serbia, during a joint press briefing held in Baku with Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Brnabic emphasized the mutual interest of both governments in enhancing cooperation. She highlighted the intention to significantly increase trade turnover between Serbia and Azerbaijan. Brnabic acknowledged Azerbaijan’s role as a reliable partner in global energy security, underscoring the importance Serbia places on expanding its collaboration with Azerbaijan in the energy sector. She revealed plans for constructing a gas-fired power plant in Serbia capable of transmitting Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria, with relevant ministries finalizing the necessary arrangements. Brnabic expressed optimism about signing the new gas agreement promptly.
