Baku:An attempt to smuggle undeclared silver items and tableware from Azerbaijan into Georgia through the Red Bridge customs checkpoint has been thwarted by customs officers.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Revenue Service of Georgia's Ministry of Finance reported the discovery during a detailed inspection of a truck driven by a Georgian citizen.

The seized silver items weighed a total of 9,038 grams, with a customs value of 38,289 lari, which is approximately $15,000.

The case has been handed over to the Investigation Service of Georgia's Ministry of Finance for further investigation.
