Baku: SOCAR Hackathon 2025 took place at Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), organized by SOCAR with Microsoft as the official partner.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the opening ceremony featured speeches from several key figures including Elmar Gasimov, Rector of Baku Higher Oil School; Arzu Javadova, Vice President of SOCAR; Teymur Aliyev, Head of SOCAR’s Strategic Management and Innovations Department; Gumyrbek Sandibekov, representative of Microsoft; and Azad Huseynov, SOCAR’s Chief Data Officer. The speakers highlighted the significance of the event for Azerbaijan’s innovation ecosystem and noted the competition’s role in unlocking young people’s creative potential while identifying innovative approaches to real industrial challenges. They also discussed SOCAR’s innovation strategy and digital transformation initiatives and extended their best wishes to the participating teams.
The two-day SOCAR Hackathon 2025 focused on competitions in the fields of Artificial Intelligence Engineering and Data Engineering. On the first day, Microsoft presented on data and artificial intelligence services, providing participants with insights into the competition’s objectives, evaluation criteria, and technical capabilities. This was followed by an ideation phase where teams developed innovative solutions with mentor support.
On the second day, teams finalized their projects and presented them to the jury. The judging panel deliberated and announced the winners. In the Artificial Intelligence Engineering category, Neon Tech secured first place, followed by Triangle in second place and BitByte in third. In the Data Engineering category, VSG emerged as the winner, with NoWay taking second place and Osmos in third.
The event concluded with an award ceremony celebrating the winners.
