AZSTAND Representatives Attend International AI Standards Summit 2025

Seoul: Representatives of the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AZSTAND), functioning under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, along with members of the Technical Committee for Standardization on Information and Communication Technologies (AZSTAND/TK 05), took part in the International Artificial Intelligence Standards Summit held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Summit was co-organized by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS). The event saw the participation of over 300 representatives from government and business sectors across 65 countries.

The Summit provided a crucial platform for tackling complex challenges associated with artificial intelligence and encouraged the development and implementation of AI standards that prioritize reliability, sustainability, and the protection of human rights. Discussions centered on the importance of international standards as practical business tools and their ability to bridge regulatory frameworks. By fostering trust, mitigating risks, and reducing trade barriers, these standards are integral to a unified global approach to AI design and governance.

At the end of the Summit, participants adopted the Seoul Declaration, a document that outlines essential criteria for developing suitable AI standards while respecting human rights and maintaining ethical principles in AI applications.

The International AI Standards Summit 2025 is recognized as a significant global forum for shaping discussions on AI design, governance, and standardization. As AI continues to reshape industries and societies, the Summit serves as an opportunity for senior leaders from both the public and private sectors to exchange views and collaborate on practical approaches.
