Completion of the project for the modernization and reconstruction of the Baku Oil Refinery (BOR) named after. Heydar Aliyev is planned for 2027, said Deputy Director of SOCAR Downstream Emil Alhasli.

“As part of the BOR refinery modernization and reconstruction project, we are now at the stage of launching units. First of all, a hydrogen production unit for the hydrotreatment of diesel and gasoline will be put into operation. Work on the commissioning of the remaining units is ongoing and will be completed by the middle of next year. The production of diesel fuel according to Euro-5 standards at the plant will begin in the third quarter of 2022, Euro-5 gasoline – in June-July 2023,” Alhasli said at the Baku Energy Forum.

He noted that work on the first stage of the project for the modernization and reconstruction of the Baku Oil Refinery will be completed in December 2023.

He noted that due to the construction of new units at the plant, SOCAR expects to stop the enterprise for scheduled repairs every four years.

“The Baku refinery plans to produce 2 million tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline at a ratio of 60% to 40%,” Alhasli said.
