Somali Presidential Advisor Highlights Azerbaijan’s Role in Promoting Peace

Baku: Today, Azerbaijan serves as a bridge not only between regions, but also between civilizations, taking important steps toward promoting dialogue, peace, and sustainable development, said Somali Presidential Advisor Mohamed Osman Mohamoud during his speech at the first General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform (GSNP), APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mohamed Osman Mohamoud emphasized the dual nature of Africa's current situation, pointing out both challenges and opportunities. He mentioned that Africa is experiencing rapid urbanization, leading to the emergence of informal settlements where millions are deprived of decent housing. Economic shocks, droughts, floods, and conflicts continue to threaten peace and security on the continent. Despite these challenges, he highlighted Africa's potential for economic growth, driven by its young population and abundant opportunities in maritime and land trade.

The Somali Presidential Advisor praised the Global South NGO Platform for its significant role in uniting communities, amplifying voices, and transforming experiences into global action. He stressed the importance of civil society in the decision-making process, advocating for its central role in shaping a common future. Mohamoud asserted that prosperity cannot exist without peace, stability cannot exist without justice, and a sustainable future cannot be achieved without cooperation. He urged global unity, stating, "Let us work together - as North and South, East and West - to build a world defined not by division, but by dignity, not by conflict, but by cooperation."
