Speaker of Milli Majlis: Empowering Women Strengthens Regional Cooperation

Tashkent: An online conference titled 'Women of Central Asia: Priority Tasks and Joint Action' was held on April 21, organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, bringing together women leaders from Central Asian countries. In her remarks, Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that the event contributes to strengthening the role of women in Central Asia and enhancing cooperation. She noted that the Dialogue of Central Asian Women Leaders has quickly proven to be a relevant and effective platform for regional engagement.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Sahiba Gafarova stressed that the dialogue strengthens trust and inter-parliamentary cooperation, promotes coordinated efforts to enhance women's roles in society, and reaffirms the commitment to continued collaboration and joint solutions to shared challenges. Describing gender equality as a key priority in Azerbaijan and noting women's active roles in all sectors and high-level positions, the Azerbaijani Speaker highlighted First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva's large-scale public and political activities as a vivid example of women's contributions to the country's development.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis stressed that Azerbaijan values regional cooperation on women's rights, portraying the Central Asian Women's Dialogue as a platform for trust, exchange, and joint initiatives, and reaffirmed Azerbaijan's readiness to participate in and support women's empowerment programs. At the conference, speakers and top officials from Uzbekistan, the UN, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan shared national experiences on strengthening women's leadership and presented their views and proposals on the topic.
