Baku: The official visit of Francina Armengol Socias, Speaker of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, to Azerbaijan marks a significant milestone, as it is the first visit of a Spanish Parliamentary Speaker to the country, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, emphasized during a joint press conference.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Speaker Gafarova highlighted the active political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Spain, which paves the way for a broader discussion on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations. She expressed particular appreciation for the anticipated working visit of Pedro S¡nchez, President of the Government of Spain, to Azerbaijan in November 2024 as part of COP29, and his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev.

Gafarova also noted the ongoing regular contacts between the two countries' Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy, highlighting successful cooperation in several areas. She emphasized that there are good opportunities to expand this cooperation into other domains and mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance the legal framework governing the bilateral relationship.
