Baku: Azerbaijan is implementing the region's largest reconstruction and return programs, emphasizing a comprehensive approach that goes beyond urban rebuilding to include the restoration of communities and hope. Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, highlighted this effort during the 'Housing at the Center of Crisis Recovery and Reconstruction' event at the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Huseynov stated that Azerbaijan's reconstruction initiative is deeply personal. For nearly three decades, internally displaced persons harbored the hope of returning to their homes. The liberated territories, once devastated, are now the focus of extensive recovery efforts. Huseynov emphasized that the initiative is not just about physical rebuilding, but also about enabling people to envision a future in their homeland, fostering a renewed sense of belonging.

Huseynov further explained that Azerbaijan is channeling significant funds into one of the region's most ambitious reconstruction and return programs. The focus is on rebuilding cities and villages in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts from the ground up, with an emphasis on sustainability, inclusiveness, and resilience.
