State Committee Affirms Preservation of Shusha Fortress Walls

Baku: The walls of the Shusha fortress will be preserved, stated the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture in response to an inquiry from APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this announcement comes amid claims circulating on social media suggesting that the fortress walls are not included in the Master Plan of Shusha. Photos related to this issue have also been shared online, raising concerns about the preservation of the historic site.

The State Committee clarified that various conceptual solutions regarding the architectural style of Shusha have been developed within the framework of the city’s Master Plan. “These solutions serve as guiding principles for the architectural projects to be implemented during the city’s future development,” the committee emphasized. The plan ensures the preservation of all immovable historical and cultural monuments, including the fortress walls, which are under state protection.
