Baku: The State Migration Service of Azerbaijan has issued an appeal to all foreigners traveling on the Baku-Tbilisi passenger train route regarding updated entry and exit regulations. In line with the Cabinet of Ministers' recent decision, the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku railway route is now open to both Azerbaijani citizens and foreigners eligible for visa-free entry starting from midnight on May 25, 2026.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, foreigners and stateless persons using this railway route must be aware of Azerbaijan's migration legislation. The regulations stipulate that any foreigner or stateless person staying in the country for more than 15 days must register at their place of stay. Those entering under a visa-free regime are allowed a temporary stay not exceeding 90 days unless specified otherwise in international agreements involving Azerbaijan. Specifically, Russian citizens are permitted a 90-day stay within one calendar year.
To facilitate passenger convenience and avoid delays due to any additional procedures, the State Migration Service advises that individuals who may have breached these migration regulations should contact regional migration departments or 'migration services' windows at 'ASAN service' centers before leaving the country. Information about entry and exit restrictions due to legislative violations is also accessible via the 'Electronic services' section on the Service's official website.
The State Migration Service has also ensured the availability of migration services at Boyuk Kesik railway station, a stop on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route. Here, migration assistance is promptly provided to foreign and stateless travelers, according to the official statement.
