State Migration Service Reports Expulsion of Nearly 700 Foreigners from Azerbaijan

Baku: In the first four months of this year, Azerbaijan recorded a total of 735,969 entries from citizens of 179 countries, including the Russian Federation, as stated by the State Migration Service in response to an inquiry from APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during this period, 21,888 decisions were made concerning the extension of temporary stay and issuance of temporary residence permits to citizens from 127 countries, including the Russian Federation. The State Migration Service issued 6,228 administrative decisions related to violations of migration legislation involving citizens from 109 countries, including the Russian Federation. Among these, 668 foreigners were expelled from Azerbaijan, with their re-entry prohibited for a legally defined period.

It is important to note that, beginning January 1, 2025, a new regulation will limit the period of temporary stay in Azerbaijan for citizens of the Russian Federation and stateless individuals residing there. Under the visa-free regime, their stay will be restricted to no more than 90 days within a calendar year, as per Decision No. 561 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 29, 2024.
