State Security Service Detains State Tourism Agency Employee on Suspicion of Abuse


Baku: Nijat Huseynov, an employee of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was detained as a suspect by the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 4. He was brought before the court, and a detention measure was chosen for him by the Sabail District Court of Baku, APA reports. Huseynov is accused of abusing his official powers during his service.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the incident follows a severe reprimand issued to Fuad Naghiyev, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, by an Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The reprimand was due to shortcomings in Naghiyev’s work.



In addition to Huseynov’s detention, several officials of the Agency have been removed from their positions. This includes the Head of the State Tourism Agency Apparatus, Kenan Gasimov, and the Head of the Tourism Policy and Strategy Department, Mahammad Muradov.
