Almaty: The number of applications for cargo transportation from Kazakhstan to other countries through the ATI.SU platform dramatically increased in the third quarter of 2024, showing a significant uptick in demand primarily to Russia and Belarus.

According to Trend News Agency, the international exchange platform ATI.SU reported a 262 percent increase in transportation applications from Kazakhstan during this period. The substantial rise in applications was primarily fueled by heightened demands for exports to Russia and Belarus. Specifically, applications for transportation to Russia surged by 263 percent annually and 218 percent from the previous quarter. Similarly, demand for cargo delivery to Belarus rose by 641 percent over the year and 195 percent compared to the second quarter.

Renata Zobova, the director of the Kazakhstan representative office of ATI.SU, attributed this growth to two main factors. Firstly, a decrease in freight transportation by rail between Kazakhstan and Russia was observed due t
o a capacity shortage on the railroads of both countries. This issue was compounded in Kazakhstan by increased rail transportation volumes along the Trans-Caspian international transportation route linking China with the European Union. In the first half of the year, transit cargo traffic on this Eurasian rail route through Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus escalated by 66% year-on-year. As a result, Kazakhstani suppliers are increasingly turning to road transportation to deliver goods to Russia and Belarus. Secondly, Zobova highlighted the role of digital advancements in logistics. The rise in applications is also linked to the growing number of users of the digital platform “ATI.SU Exchange” within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The report also noted that other export destinations maintained a stable demand throughout 2024.
