Dushanbe: Tajikistan is actively working on a new version of its Energy Law, aiming to enhance regulation in the energy sector, particularly in electrical billing systems, Trend News Agency reports.

According to Trend News Agency, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan announced that the country held its third working meeting on the draft law, with support from the European Union. This legislative initiative is designed to fully regulate contemporary relationships within the energy sector, with a significant focus on the billing systems of the country’s electrical networks. The development of subordinate regulatory acts to oversee the technical aspects of the industry is also planned.

The meeting saw participation from representatives of the Legal Department of the Executive Office of the President of Tajikistan, various ministries and agencies, public organizations, and the European Union. This collaborative effort underscores the national and international interest in enhancing Tajikista
n’s energy regulations.

The ministry also provided updates on the country’s energy production, noting that Tajikistan produced 10.367 billion kWh in the first half of 2024. This figure represents a decrease of 393.4 million kWh compared to the same period last year, highlighting potential areas for improvement in energy efficiency and production.
