Baku: A delegation from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan, along with other state agencies, visited Azerbaijan to learn from the country’s experience with penitentiary institutions and probation systems, the Ministry of Justice informed APA. Led by Voris Gozizoda, the Deputy Head of the Main Department for the Execution of Criminal Punishments, the Tajik delegation’s itinerary included visits to significant landmarks such as the Alley of Honor, the Alley of Martyrs, and Victory Park.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the delegation met with Mirsaleh Seyidov, the Deputy Minister of Justice and Head of the Penitentiary Service. Discussions during the meeting focused on cooperation between the agencies, legislative frameworks governing the penitentiary sector, safeguarding the rights and freedoms of convicted and arrested individuals, and exchanging views on modernizing infrastructure and constructing new penitentiary facilities.

Throughout their visit, the delegation examined the operations of various facilities, including the Baku Pre-trial Detention Center, Prison No. 4, the Juvenile Penitentiary Institution, and the Umbaki Penitentiary Institution. A meeting at the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice, attended by Vugar Aghayev, head of the service, and representatives from the Baku City Probation Department, provided the Tajik officials with insights into the institutional and legal reforms aimed at enhancing the probation system in Azerbaijan.

The discussions underscored the social and psychological rehabilitation programs for those under probation supervision, alongside the implementation of digital management mechanisms. Presentations demonstrated the use of electronic control tools and innovative management platforms. The event also explored the prospects for expanding judicial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, emphasizing the mutual exchange of expertise and potential joint projects.

The Tajik delegation expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s modern approach to penitentiary and probation systems, acknowledging the efforts toward social rehabilitation and the integration of digital technologies. They highlighted the significance of learning from Azerbaijan’s advancements within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
