The Eastern Partnership summit started in Riga (Azeri-Press News Agency)

The Eastern Partnership summit started in the Latvian capital.

APA’s correspondent reports, the event was held within the framework of Latvia’s presidency of the EU Council. Prior to the event the President of Latvia Andris Berzins told reporters that at the summit will be discussed the current state and prospects of the “Eastern Partnership”.

Then was held the ceremony of the meeting of Heads of State and Government. Azerbaijan is represented at the summit by Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Head of Foreign Relations Department Novruz Mammadov.

At the summit, attended by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini, EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and the negotiations on the expansion of Johannes Hahn, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the Council of Europe, Donald Tusk, President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and other senior representatives of the EU and the Council of Europe.

At the end of the Summit, which will continue tomorrow, is scheduled to sign the declaration.
