Baku: Three crew members of the ship that sank off Northern Cyprus may be Azerbaijani citizens, according to ‚¬Å¡¬€š¬…€œzdemir Tokel, Head of Communications of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Tokel shared this information in response to an inquiry by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Tokel stated that no information has been received regarding the presence of Azerbaijani citizens among the passengers. He elaborated that identifying Azerbaijani citizens could be complicated if individuals hold dual citizenship and entered the country with a Turkish passport. This situation necessitates additional checks to confirm identities.
The incident involved a passenger ship that sank off Northern Cyprus' coast. Authorities have rescued 242 individuals, but eight people have died, and the search for 17 others continues. In connection with the incident, eight people have been detained.
