Tokayev Highlights Kazakhstan’s Oil Transit and Energy Collaboration with Azerbaijan

Baku: Last year, the transit of Kazakh oil through the territory of Azerbaijan amounted to almost 1.5 million tons, said Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a joint statement to the press with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Tokayev expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration in transporting Kazakh oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan route. He noted that last year’s transit volume reached nearly 1.5 million tons and anticipated a significant increase in the near future. Tokayev highlighted a deep-sea power cable project aimed at enhancing national energy systems and boosting the export of “green energy.” Additionally, he acknowledged efforts to channel Kazakhstan’s uranium products to international markets through Azerbaijan, extending gratitude to President Aliyev for his support of major initiatives and projects.

The Kazakh leader also pointed out emerging cooperation opportunities in the IT sector. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s experience in implementing digital public services and IT technology development, expressing readiness to pursue joint projects. Tokayev underscored the importance of expediting the project to lay an optical-fiber communication line along the Caspian Sea’s bottom, urging governments to bring the project to full readiness swiftly.
