Baku: ‘In 2025, trade tensions did not have a significant impact on the exports of Middle Corridor countries,’ APA-Economics reports, citing the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, it was noted that despite trade disputes and regional tensions, the foreign trade of Middle Corridor countries (Caucasus and Central Asia – CCA) remained generally stable in 2025.
The IMF reported that in January-May 2025, the value of goods exports from developing and middle-income countries in the MENAP (Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan) and CCA regions increased by 8% compared to the same period last year. This growth was mainly driven by continued trade relations with China and the European Union, as well as the expansion of intra-regional trade.
The report highlights that in oil-importing CCA countries (such as Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Georgia, etc.), export values rose sharply, primarily due to continued trade flows directed to Russia.
At the same time, in oil-exporting CCA countries (including Azerbaijan), the overall export value decreased compared to last year due to lower oil prices, although non-oil exports remained stable.
