Baku: Train services between Baku Metro's 28 May and Nizami stations have been temporarily suspended starting today as part of the line separation project implemented by Baku Metro CJSC, APA-Economics reports. According to Azeri-Press news agency, Baku Metro CJSC, a company under AZCON Holding, has initiated the main construction phase of a project aimed at separating the Red and Green lines. The construction is expected to last 10-11 months. This project aligns with the 'State Program for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Surrounding Areas for 2025-2030,' endorsed by an Order of President Ilham Aliyev. The project's primary goal is to address the interdependence between the Red and Green lines, alleviate congestion at stations, reduce train intervals, and enhance the stability of train services. Currently, the shared platform area at the 28 May station causes significant congestion, especially during peak hours, posing challenges for passengers boarding and alighting trains. Upon com pletion, passengers heading towards 'Icherisheher' will use the '28 May' station platform, while those traveling towards 'Darnagul' will utilize the 'Jafar Jabbarli' station platform. Additionally, the construction of the second passenger staircase connecting the '28 May' and 'Jafar Jabbarli' stations is nearing completion, promising more convenient and faster transfers. To manage the increased passenger demand due to the metro service suspension, AYNA has implemented supporting measures. Six new express bus routes were launched by AYNA a day earlier. The M1 route connects the 'Elmlar Akademiyasi' and '28 May' stations, M2 connects 'Inshaatchilar', 'Nizami', and '28 May' stations, M3 connects '20 January', 'Nizami', and '28 May' stations, M4 connects '20 January' and 'Koroglu' stations, M5 connects '20 January' and 'Ganjlik' stations, while M6 connects 'Elmlar Akademiyasi' and 'Ganjlik' stations. Additionally, the number of buses on 20 regular routes has been increased, and the terminal stops for regular ro utes No. 32, 49, 120E, and 125 have been relocated to the area around Samad Vurgun Garden, with designated stops on Dilara Aliyeva and Pushkin Streets.
