Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable Nears Completion

Sumgayit:Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are set to finalize the laying of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic cable along the seabed of the Caspian Sea this month.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, Zhaslan Madiyev, announced the progress during a government meeting. He stated that 390 kilometers of fiber-optic cable have been installed from Sumgayit's coast to Aktau's coast.

The project, a collaboration between Kazakhtelecom and Azerbaijan's AzerTelecom, aims to establish a new digital route for high-speed data transmission between Europe and Asia. It is a significant part of the Digital Silk Way initiative, with the line's maximum transmission capacity anticipated to reach up to 400 Tbit/s.
