Transfer of Armenian-Origin Woman’s Body from Khankendi to Armenia Under Discussion

Khankendi: The issue of transferring the body of Armenian-origin Vera Agasyan, who passed away in Khankendi in October 2024, to Armenia is at the discussion stage, said the National Security Service of Armenia, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during a presentation on March 10 of the “Assessment Report: Accounting for Missing Persons in the Republic of Azerbaijan” by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), Sharafat Hasanov, Deputy Head of the State Security Service (SSS), Lieutenant General, stated that Armenia had not expressed any position regarding the transfer of the body of ethnically Armenian Vera Varashakovna Agasyan, who passed away in Khankendi.

“Although the Armenian side and her children were informed about Armenian-origin Agasyan Vera Varashakovna, born in 1954, being passed away on 20.10.2024, at her residence in the city of Khankendi due to illness via the International Committee of the Red Cross, all necessary documentation for the transfer of the body was prepared,” Hasanov noted. He further explained that during a meeting held at the border in February of this year without the participation of mediators, the issue was directly brought to the attention of the Armenian delegation. However, the other side has not responded to the transfer of the body for nearly five months.
