Baku: 'I would like to thank everyone participating in Baku Climate Week,' Xuehong Wang, Director of the Transparency Division at the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), said in a video address during the High-Level Dialogue on Transparency held as part of the Fourth Climate Week of the UNFCCC, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Wang emphasized that transparency plays a crucial role in translating climate commitments into actionable policies, investment-friendly plans, and measurable outcomes. She highlighted the importance of transparency in allowing countries to assess their current situation, recognize progress, identify areas requiring additional measures, and foster trust essential for enhanced international cooperation.

Wang further noted that the success of the Enhanced Transparency Framework under the Paris Agreement relies on cooperative efforts to guarantee the effective involvement of all nations. She concluded her address by expressing gratitude to Azerbaijan for organizing the event and reaffirming its dedication to partnership and transparency.

Xuehong Wang announced that the deadline for submitting transparency reports is December 31, 2026. She stated that accelerating the reporting process is a strong indicator of commitment to climate obligations and provides valuable information critical to implementing the Paris Agreement. Wang assured that the UNFCCC Secretariat is committed to ongoing cooperation with partners and enhancing the capabilities of developing countries. She underscored the goal of equipping developing countries with the necessary knowledge, systems, and confidence to fully and effectively implement the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF).
