Baku: The trial of Altay Goyushov, who faces charges of making public calls against the state, has officially commenced, APA reports. Held at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, the session was presided over by Judge Eldar Ismayilov, who focused on clarifying the personal details of Goyushov during the hearing.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the case has been submitted for judicial review, with the next trial hearing scheduled for January 7. Goyushov has been accused under Article 281.2 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to public calls directed against the state, particularly when such actions are committed repeatedly or by a group.

It was reported that Goyushov had evaded the investigation by leaving Azerbaijan, leading to a warrant for his arrest. Following a decision by the Binagadi District Court on February 23, an arrest in absentia was ordered. On September 17, the charges were updated, confirming him as an accused under the same article.

Evidence presented includes activities on social media platforms, where, on April 20, 2020, through the 'Duz Danisaq' channel on YouTube, and subsequently on September 2, 2024, and January 1, 2025, via his Facebook channel, Goyushov allegedly made public calls advocating the use of force against Azerbaijan's lawful authorities. These actions were reportedly carried out in concert with others, as part of a coordinated effort.
