Baku: A preliminary court hearing has been conducted in the criminal case brought by the State Security Service against Sanan Rahimli, who stands accused of being a member of a criminal organization formed beyond the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the hearing took place today at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, under the supervision of Judge Nigar Imanova, where the defendant's personal details were verified. The criminal case has now been moved forward for trial, with the first substantive hearing scheduled for January 13.

Sanan Rahimli faces charges under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. These include Article 12.1, which pertains to the application of criminal law to offenses committed outside the territory of Azerbaijan; Article 218.2, related to participation in a criminal organization, including associations of organizers, leaders, or other representatives of organized groups; and Article 283-1.3, which involves participation in armed conflicts and combat training conducted outside Azerbaijan under the guise of spreading religious sects, performing religious rites, or based on religious hostility.
