Trkiye’s Diplomatic Efforts to Resolve US-Israel-Iran Conflict Highlighted by Foreign Minister

Ankara: Trkiye continues to maintain diplomatic contacts to help bring an end to the war between the US, Israel, and Iran, Anadolu Agency reports citing Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Speaking after an informal meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Organization of Turkic States, Fidan emphasized Trkiye's ongoing commitment to peace and stability in the region amidst the ongoing conflict.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Foreign Minister Fidan highlighted a statement by Iranian officials indicating a defensive stance, noting that such internal matters are integral to Iran's diplomatic approach. Fidan criticized Israel's approach in the region, describing it as expansionist and aimed at causing instability. He reaffirmed Trkiye's peace-oriented policy alongside its regional allies.

Fidan attributed Trkiye's ability to maintain peace and security to its robust foreign policy under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He emphasized the importance of cooperation among Organization of Turkic States (OTS) members, highlighting progress in economic and cultural areas, and the need for a unified stance on global issues.

The foreign minister warned of increasing unpredictability in the international system, stressing the importance of solidarity among Turkic states. Fidan noted that any attack on an OTS member would be a concern for all, expressing gratitude for the support shown to Trkiye and Azerbaijan.

Addressing the ongoing conflict, Fidan advocated for diplomacy as the sole viable solution, emphasizing Trkiye's efforts to establish negotiations. He warned against the potential benefits to terrorist groups and risks to global energy security, reiterating Trkiye's commitment to the safety of its citizens and diplomatic efforts in the region.

Fidan condemned attacks on countries like Qatar, Kuwait, and others in the region, arguing such actions threaten civilian lives and regional stability. He advised against using neighboring countries as leverage in conflicts, highlighting the need for dialogue and stability.

The foreign minister pointed out that Trkiye anticipated Iran's potential responses to the crisis and has consistently advised Tehran to engage diplomatically with Washington. He criticized strategies targeting civilian infrastructure, suggesting they only further Israel's agenda.

Fidan observed widespread global support for ending the conflict, expressing Trkiye's aim to translate this consensus into diplomatic action, akin to past international efforts for Palestinian state recognition at the UN.

Highlighting recent provocations, including a missile incident in Trkiye's airspace, Fidan cautioned against further escalations. He reassured that Trkiye remains steadfast in defending its security while advocating for peace and stability.

Fidan welcomed progress towards peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, viewing it as a positive step for the South Caucasus. He also underscored the significance of peace in Afghanistan for regional stability, amidst rising tensions with Pakistan.

The foreign minister called for ending the isolation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and emphasized enhancing energy security and regional cooperation through infrastructure investments in the Caspian region.

Fidan concluded by reiterating OTS members' commitment to strengthening cooperation and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.
