Trump Hopes to Meet with Putin ‘Very Soon’

Washington: US President Donald Trump expressed hope for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin “very soon” while addressing reporters at the White House. He also mentioned the possibility of halting arms supplies to Kyiv.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Trump responded to questions about whether the new US administration would continue supplying weapons to Ukraine, stating, “We will look into that. We are talking to [Vladimir] Zelensky, we’re going to be talking with President [Vladimir] Putin very soon, and we’ll see how it all happens.”

The president emphasized that European countries should increase their financial support for Kyiv, arguing that the situation affects them more directly due to geographical proximity. Trump highlighted that the US had been contributing more funds to Kyiv than the European Union and suggested that NATO countries should raise their defense spending to 5% of GDP.
