Trump Instructs Special Envoy to Resolve Ukraine Conflict in 100 Days

Washington: US President Donald Trump has tasked his special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, with the ambitious goal of ending the Ukraine conflict in 100 days, as reported by APA citing TASS. Trump’s directive underscores his desire to expedite peace talks, a task he has shown interest in managing personally.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, efforts to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin may prove more challenging than Trump initially suggested during his campaign, where he boldly claimed he would end the conflict before assuming office. Kellogg, who is not an independent figure and lacks a diplomatic background, is seen as unlikely to engage in substantial negotiations with Russia.

Trump, on January 7, acknowledged that resolving the Ukraine issue might take longer than the 24-hour timeframe he had previously set during his election campaign. However, Kellogg expressed his intention to adhere to the 100-day timeline. On January 21, Trump mentioned the possibility of the US halting its weapons supply to Ukraine and reiterated his willingness to engage with Putin.

Putin has indicated that Moscow is open to discussions on the Ukraine conflict with the new US administration, prioritizing the need to address the crisis’s root causes. He noted the statements from Trump and his team about restoring contact and the importance of preventing a potential World War III.
