Samarkand:The Turkic Chess Association recently convened its General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, focusing on its development strategy up to 2030.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the assembly, led by Ilaha Gadimova, General Secretary of the Chess Association of Turkic-Speaking Countries, discussed the establishment of a joint chess academy. This initiative aims to unify the chess traditions of member countries and includes organizing international tournaments and enhancing the professional training of coaches and arbiters.

The proposed Turkic Chess Academy will serve as a platform for collaborative training programs for coaches and referees, as well as for knowledge-sharing initiatives, seminars, and educational courses. Key priorities include the integration of digital technologies in chess and the exchange of specialists in the field.

Additionally, the association plans to expand the tournament calendar, increasing both team and individual competitions, and organizing joint training camps. Special tournaments are also envisioned for junior players and veteran chess enthusiasts.

Azerbaijan's participation in the event was marked by the presence of Mahir Mammadov, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and FIDE vice-president.
