Ankara: The Grand National Assembly of Trkiye (GNAT) is preparing to ratify a significant memorandum aimed at bolstering military security cooperation with Azerbaijan. This announcement was made by Numan Kurtulmus, the Speaker of the GNAT, who expressed confidence in the forthcoming approval process.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kurtulmus emphasized the procedural nature of the ratification process, stating that international agreements, once signed, are systematically brought before the Turkish Grand National Assembly for discussion and ratification. "Signed international documents are inevitably approved by the Turkish Grand National Assembly and enter into force," Kurtulmus assured.
The memorandum, titled 'Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Trkiye on Strengthening Mutual Military Security,' was initially signed in Istanbul on July 22, 2025. It subsequently received ratification from Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis in December 2025. This agreement underscores the ongoing commitment between the two nations to enhance their military collaboration.
