Turkmenistan and Pakistan Aim to Boost Transportation and Infrastructure Cooperation

ASHGABAT — Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Pakistan’s National Logistics Corporation (NLC) Director General Farrukh Shahzad Rao recently convened to discuss potential enhancements in transportation and logistics cooperation, as reported by Trend via Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Trend News Agency, the meeting emphasized opportunities to strengthen the existing partnership between the two nations by improving logistics and transit capabilities. Key discussion points included the development of international transport and transit corridors, an increase in transit cargo volumes, simplification of customs procedures, and optimization of port infrastructure, all aimed at fostering regional economic integration.

Additional talks on August 22 with Kashif Nazir, President and Chief Engineer of Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO), focused on potential cooperation in urban development, road and transportation infrastructure, and irrigation systems, leveraging FWO’s expertise to support Turkmenistan’s large-scale projects.

These discussions underline a mutual commitment to deepen collaboration in crucial sectors, potentially leading to significant economic and infrastructural developments in both countries. The National Logistics Corporation and Frontier Works Organization play pivotal roles in this endeavor, contributing their extensive resources and expertise to regional growth and connectivity.
