Ashgabat: Turkmenistan is actively preparing for negotiations to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), as reported by Trend News Agency through the country’s official media.

According to Trend News Agency, a Turkmen delegation, composed of members from the State Customs Service, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, and the Central Bank, participated in specialized training in Geneva. The training was aimed at honing negotiation skills specifically for accessing goods markets.

The event in Geneva also saw participation from various countries including Azerbaijan, the Bahamas, Bhutan, Belarus, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, and Uzbekistan. The focus was on developing effective negotiation strategies, aligning Turkmenistan’s positions with international standards, and formulating commitments related to tariffs and services.

Additionally, the European Union is providing significant support to Turkmenistan’s efforts to join the WTO. This move is part of a broader
strategy to enhance cooperation between the EU and Central Asian countries.
