Turkmenistan will supply up to 2 bcm of gas per year to Uzbekistan, the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamahmudov said in an interview with the news portal of Turkmenistan. "As a result of the negotiations, thanks to our fraternal, good-neighborly relations, we were able to sign a short-term contract for the supply of Turkmen gas to Uzbekistan in the amount of up to 2 billion cubic meters per year," Mirzamahmudov said. According to him, this is only the beginning, because the parties discussed the prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. "This is the elaboration of a long-term contract for a long time with an increase in supplies, issues of supply and transit of Turkmen electricity to third countries, as well as the supply of oil and petroleum products," the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan stressed. Uzbekistan also plans to purchase gas from Russia and transport it through Kazakhstan. In May, 'QazaqGaz' and 'Gazprom' signed an agreement on the transportation of natural gas through Kazakhstan for Uzbek consumers. Earlier it was reported that the transportation of Russian gas could begin as early as October. The Minister of Energy of the Republic Almasadam Satkaliyev also noted that the projected volumes of Russian gas pumping in the direction of Uzbekistan so far vary from 1.5 to 10 bcm
