Baku: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan extended warm congratulations to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s recognition as a permanently neutral state. In a heartfelt message, President Aliyev highlighted the historic significance of the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution on December 12, 1995, which recognized Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality with the unanimous support of 185 countries.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev underscored the achievements Turkmenistan has accomplished over the years while adhering to its neutrality policy. He remarked that Turkmenistan’s approach is rooted in the historical heritage and traditions of its peace-loving people, emphasizing dialogue and mutual respect. This policy has contributed significantly to regional and global peace and security.

President Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan has consistently respected Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy, co-authoring relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions in both 1995 and 2015. He expressed confidence in the continued collaboration between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to preserve and strengthen their interstate relations and deepen their strategic partnership.
