Baku: Azerbaijan has extended its congratulations to Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of the international recognition of its permanent neutrality status. In a message addressed to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan highlighted the significance of this milestone for Turkmenistan’s development and international standing.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the recognition of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality by the international community three decades ago marked a pivotal moment in the country’s history. This status has played a crucial role in fostering Turkmenistan’s sustainable development and enhancing its global position. The policy of permanent neutrality is deeply rooted in the country’s humanist and peace-loving traditions, promoting international cooperation and dialogue.
The message further emphasized Azerbaijan’s respect for Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy, noting Azerbaijan’s role as a co-author of United Nations General Assembly resolutions recognizing Turkmenistan’s neutrality in 1995 and 2015. The close relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan were also praised, with specific mention of recent high-level visits and meetings that have strengthened the bilateral ties.
Azerbaijan expressed confidence in continued joint efforts to bolster the brotherly relations between the two countries and enhance their cooperation in various fields.
