Baku: A total of 21 emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene following the incident in the Baku Metro today, TABIB said in response to APA's inquiry. Two individuals, both female, were hospitalized at the Sabunchu Medical Center by emergency teams. One was a 25-week pregnant woman, and the other was a 43-year-old person diagnosed with a right shoulder injury.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, nine people received on-site medical assistance due to arterial hypertension and stress reactions. The incident was triggered by a short circuit in an intermediate cable between the 'Ulduz' and 'Narimanov' stations of the Baku Metro at around 12:10. This disruption caused a halt in the supply of voltage to the contact network, which is crucial for the movement of Baku Metro trains.
Since electricity is the main power source for the metro, the interruption led to the cessation of high-voltage power supply, making train movement impossible on the 'Ulduz-Narimanov' section. Emergency teams responded promptly to address the situation and provide necessary medical assistance to those affected.
