Meeting Advances Ireland-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Relations

Baku: Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with a delegation led by Tony McCormack, head of the Ireland-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group, who is visiting the country, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the importance of such meetings, noting that they help in reaching agreements on developing interparliamentary relations. Both parties underscored the significance of joint activities within international parliamentary organizations.

Tony McCormack expressed gratitude for the invitation and the hospitality extended to his delegation. He emphasized the potential for establishing closer ties between the parliaments, stating that visits and interactions like these are instrumental in achieving that aim.

Speaker Gafarova mentioned that Azerbaijan hosts numerous international events, providing a platform for the country to present its perspectives globally. The meeting also included discussions on the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization and peace process, alongside other issues of mutual interest.
