BAKU: Azerbaijan has marked significant strides in development over the past 33 years, according to a statement by the UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fergus Auld, on the occasion of the Day of Restoration of Azerbaijan’s Independence.

According to Trend News Agency, Ambassador Auld’s publication on X highlighted the progress made since Azerbaijan restored its independence on October 18, 1991. “Azerbaijan as a state has achieved great development over the past 33 years. Congratulations on this magnificent holiday!” stated Ambassador Auld. His remarks were part of the celebrations commemorating the nation’s journey since reestablishing sovereignty.

The Day of Restoration of Independence, observed annually on October 18, marks a pivotal moment in Azerbaijan’s history. On this day in 1991, the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan adopted the Constitutional Act “On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.” This act not only affirmed the country’s autonomy but also positioned Azerbaijan as the successor state
to the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, with historical references to the Declaration of Independence from May 28, 1918, and subsequent declarations leading to the restoration of state independence in 1991.

This year, October 18, 2024, Azerbaijan celebrated the 33rd anniversary of this significant day, reflecting on three decades of advancements and national growth underpinned by its renewed independence.
