BAKU: In a move towards sustainable energy solutions, 162 solar panels have been installed on the roof of a production workshop at ASCO’s “Bibiheybat” Ship Repair Yard. Each panel has a capacity of 690 watts, covering an area of 512 square meters, as part of efforts to integrate environmentally friendly technologies.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the solar power system includes an inverter, cabling, a SCADA control device, and a meter. The inverter is backed by a 10-year warranty, while the solar panels come with a 25-year warranty, ensuring long-term functionality and reliability. The Absheron Peninsula, where the yard is located, receives approximately 2,200 to 2,400 hours of sunshine annually, allowing the system to generate an estimated 240 to 260 megawatts of electricity each year at 380 volts.

The initiative is part of the Green World Solidarity Year, aiming to enhance energy efficiency and underscore ASCO’s commitment to environmental protection. By harnessing solar energy, the project c
ontributes to reducing the carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices within the ship repair industry.
