Baku: Ukraine highly appreciates Azerbaijan’s humanitarian aid and vows to never forget the support, as emphasized by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husyev. In an article marking the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, Ambassador Husyev highlighted the enduring friendship, mutual support, and strategic partnership that have defined the relationship between the two nations over the past three decades.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ambassador Husyev noted that diplomatic ties between Ukraine and Azerbaijan have deep historical roots, dating back to 1918 when official diplomatic relations were first established between the Ukrainian state and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. This historical foundation continues to underscore the long-standing friendly relations between the two peoples.

The ambassador emphasized the mutual support that has characterized the relationship since the independence of both countries. He highlighted how Ukraine and Azerbaijan consistently uphold each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, defending the fundamental principles of international law. Azerbaijan has proven to be a reliable partner for Ukraine in trade and energy, with the turnover of goods and services recovering after a significant decline in 2022. Strategic infrastructure projects, such as the development of the transport corridor, are opening new avenues for business and regional cooperation.

Humanitarian relations remain a critical component of the partnership. On February 5, 2025, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to allocate further assistance, including energy equipment for Ukraine’s energy system. Ambassador Husyev expressed sincere gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support from the early days of Russia’s large-scale attack on Ukraine, particularly in demining territories and providing humanitarian aid, affirming Ukraine’s lasting appreciation for these efforts.
