Baku: The Commission on Combating Corruption of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a meeting on February 6, APA reports. Samir Nuriyev, Chairman of the Commission, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the primary objectives aligned with President Ilham Aliyev’s directives to enhance public administration efficiency, transparency, and anti-corruption efforts.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Nuriyev highlighted the significance of anti-corruption measures for consolidating socio-economic reforms under President Aliyev’s leadership. The measures serve to align state activities with modern standards and bolster public confidence in governmental institutions. Nuriyev also underscored the importance of increasing accountability and addressing new challenges in managing state property through continuous anti-corruption initiatives.
During the meeting, new Commission members appointed by the Milli Majlis were introduced, and topics of international cooperation in combating corruption were discussed. The session reviewed progress on recommendations from the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) during its 5th evaluation round.
Reports on the impact of recent judicial reforms on corruption prevention were presented, alongside discussions on proposals to increase transparency and eliminate corruption-fostering conditions. There was also an exchange of views on identifying, analyzing, assessing, and preventing corruption risks within state institutions.
In conclusion, the Commission approved its Regulations and work plan for the upcoming period.
