Extracts from the register of companies of the United Arab Emirates on the owners of “Shams FZCO” and “Shams Al Sahra FZCO”, which in 2013 were presented by the founders of Azerbaijan’s financial and industrial group “Gilan”, have appeared on the Internet and in social networks.
According to these documents, Leyla and Arzu Aliyevs are the founders of “Shams FZCO” (2004) on equal rights (50%/50%).
Recall that they are also the directors of this company.
Note that Iranian citizen Behzad Ali Ahadpour Khanghah acts as the company’s managing director. This company holds a 100% interest in “Mercure Hotel Suites and Apartments FZ” LLC.
At that, “Mercure Hotel Suites and Apartments” owns a 5-star, 41-storey hotel complex comprising over 1,000 rooms and multiple restaurants.
Until 2018, Leyla and Arzu Aliyev owned “Shams Al Sahra FZCO” on a 50%/50% basis. That year, “Shams Al Sahra FZCO” was taken over by the Tale and Nijat Heydarov brothers, sons of Azerbaijan’s Emergency Situations Minister Kemaleddin Heydarov. In June 2021, Nijat Heydarov’s share (50%) in this company was fully transferred to Manuchehr Ali Ahadpour Khangah, who has citizenship both of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Manager of this company is Behzad Ali Ahadpour Khangah as well.
It is to remind that in Azerbaijan since July 2012 the information about owners and their shareholdings in commercial companies is confidential. However, information available from the registry of commercial legal entities, as well as other public data indicate that structural and other changes are taking place in “Gilan Holding group of companies”. The company does not comment on these processes.
